Department of Medicine provides Inpatient (Wards) and Outpatient (Clinics/OPDs) services in the field of General (Internal) Medicine and its various subspecialties; besides training Undergraduate students and Postgraduate Resident Doctors. There are 16 full time faculty members in its 6 branches ("Units"). All units function under the one coordinated umbrella of Dept. of Medicine and the Resident Doctors rotate through all the units every 6 months in their 3 years of post graduate training.

The Residents, after completing 3 years, take an extensive examination (both Written and Clinical parts) in General Internal Medicine. And if successful, are granted the degree of "MD - General Medicine" of the "Mahrishi Dayanand University Rohtak, India". This postgraduate degree is at the level of MRCP, UK and ABIM, USA (although none of these titles is recognized at the same level by any of these countries).
